Position Overview

Leviat is seeking a Safety Coordinator with a leadership spirit to be responsible for directing projects in support of the Leviat safety program(s). This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure safety and promote our safety culture.  Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, in this critical role you serve as member of the management team and will help drive performance in all measurable areas including, quality, delivery, and cost with Safety on the forefront of our agenda, all in pursuit of propelling the location to a world class production facility. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assists Plant Management in designing, defining, improving and maintaining their safety programs

  • Educate employees to the level of “risk assessment” understanding to ensure goals towards a zero accident, zero incident workplace goals are being met

  • Manage all work-related injury situations including recordable, incident documentation and investigation, and improve record keeping

  • Identify/analyze potential workplace hazards to avoid accidents and injuries

  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees

  • Track incident metrics and safety trainings using computer-based programs

  • Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs

  • Provide leadership in administering and adhering to company’s safety, environmental and quality policies

  • Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.

  • Supports plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards

  • Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment

  • Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports

  • Conduct safety training stand-downs as directed/needed

  • Continually study government agency regulatory requirements to ensure compliance, while improving personal skills and knowledge.

Requirements / Experience


  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.  Must be able to speak, read, write, and train in both languages

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA and EH&S

  • Ability to train, influence, motivate, and lead others

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Must be on call for assisting injured employees or incidents at all hours of the night.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.  Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.  Walking and standing for long periods of time. Working in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility and exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
