UPS is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Facilities and Training Specialist to support the protection of UPS assets, facilities, equipment, and grounds, and assist with maintaining facility compliance and safety, conveyor system reliability, and housekeeping. The Facilities and Training Specialist assists with determining proper corrective action needed for worn equipment based on the history of breakdowns and input of the operations team to determine the most cost effective solutions. He/She assists with dispatching PE Mechanics to complete necessary conveyor system repairs and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), using Maximo to schedule work so the equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. He/She monitors status of repairs and PMI updates daily to ensure timely completion of work. The Facilities and Training Specialist assists with updating repairs and the PMI database in Maximo by processing PE Mechanics' timecards and completing PMI checklists so that equipment is maintained at an optimal level and the facility is efficient. He/She assists with conducting facility inspections and identifying operational improvements needed to promote efficiency of package flow and safety. He/She manages small projects and oversees the work of outside contractors as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties
Oversees the protection of physical assets, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient facility
Schedules necessary repairs and preventative maintenance through PE mechanics and vendors to maintain facility condition
Coordinates housekeeping through PE Porters and vendors to ensure facility appearance is maintained at most reasonable cost
Determines scope of work and estimates costs using UPS guidelines and industry standards to meet approved district budget
Inspects projects to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and adherence to original contract documents
Manages budget by tracking expenses against contract terms to ensure costs stay within district budgetary guidelines
Communicates assigned work status to colleagues to determine potential impact on the department's schedule
Assists with maintaining environmental compliance in accordance with UPS environmental programs (e.g., Storm Water, Clean Air, Hazardous Materials, etc.) to promote the environment and health and safety of UPS workers and the surrounding community
Delivers required regulatory training (e.g., Lockout Training/Hazmat Training) as directed to PE and non-PE personnel
Knowledge and Skills
Analytical with ability to identify problems, conduct research, and determine solutions
Detail oriented with ability to complete work thoroughly and maintain organized files
Strong verbal and written communication skills to manage equipment repair process and communicate technology solutions
Ability to estimate and forecast current and future business needs and general industry trends
Understanding of preventative maintenance and the ability to create preventative maintenance schedules
Understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance standards to reduce risk and enhance safety
Understanding of asset management in relation to physical tools, equipment, and materials
Project management and planning experience with understanding of objectives, plans and risks, and ability to provide concise, timely, and thorough updates
