Wholesale Credit Risk is responsible for lending activities, portfolio monitoring, and managing investment-grade related credit exposures within the Corporate and Investment Bank and the Commercial Bank. The teams are generally organized by industry, and work closely with coverage and product groups to support business needs. The Vice President will utilize their superior analytical skills, combined with credit and industry knowledge, to make and support credit decisions for a portfolio of clients. They collaborate across credit risk and the business teams to meet client credit requests, while balancing the risk-return needs of the Firm. They constantly monitor their portfolio to accurately assign risk ratings to clients and facilities, while ensuring a robust culture of compliance is adhered to at all times. They are exceptional partners with all colleagues, and are skilled trainers and developers of the junior team members in Wholesale Credit Risk.

Specifically, a Vice President in Wholesale Credit Risk:

• Oversees and conducts credit analysis and approves or seeks approval for all lending and trading related transactions, including operating exposures, individually or as part of a deal team
• Develop a well-informed and forward-looking view of the business, financial and competitive risks associated with a company and sector
• Manages and monitors a portfolio of client credit exposures, across industry classes, on an ongoing basis
• Takes ownership of client credit needs and projects and independently develops a credit opinion
• Provides credit expertise in structuring new loan and derivative transactions
• Leads in negotiating, finalizing, and executing documentation for loans and derivatives
• Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, potential problems and opportunities
• Provides a cohesive and comprehensive approach to review ratings, risk assessment, portfolios, clients and industries in their sector
• Presents quarterly and annual risk reviews and tiering analyses
• Reviews and assigns risk ratings and maintains updated credit research on their portfolio of clients
• Works with CIB Coverage, CB Coverage and Americas Corporate Banking on allocation of capital for clients; maintains threshold and industry limits

• Manages credit due diligence process for clients, including for capital markets transactions
• Coordinates and allocates work across credit deal teams
• Reviews and approves written credit approval documents, which include financials analysis and modeling
• Trains, mentors, and develops Analysts and other junior members of the team
• Helps drive and support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements

Qualifications:

The current open position is for a Vice President in Wholesale Credit Risk with expertise in one or more of the industries we support: Consumer, Retail and Healthcare. Any industry-specific experience is considered valuable, and Consumer, Retail, or Healthcare, in particular for this opportunity.

Candidates should possess:

• Excellent accounting and corporate finance expertise
• BA/BAA degree required, MBA or CFA designation is a plus
• Completion of a major corporate bank credit training program or equivalent experience
• Academic training in the principals of accounting, corporate finance capital markets products, and macro economics
• Strong analytical and financial modeling ability
• Solid knowledge of loan and derivative products, documentation, and structuring
• Experience negotiating legal documents associated with credit products
• An interest in client interaction
• Outstanding verbal and written communication, along with strong inter-personal skills
• An exceptional work ethic
• Ability to work well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word software
