Position Overview

The Shrink & Stretch Film Packaging Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for the diagnosis and repair of pertinent packaging equipment, and understanding how the product interacts with the equipment. This position also supports the sales force in technical assistance, equipment choice, demonstrations, and appropriate follow-up, and maintaining appropriate standards of North American.

Responsibilities Include:

• Diagnose and repair packing equipment and have solid troubleshooting ability.


• Ability to understand printed polyethylene and shrink film, stretch film, and carton sealing tape and ability to pinpoint product vs equipment issues.


• Provides subject matter expertise to the customer for packaging equipment and product


• Assists customer service in answering technical matters/questions.


• Complete Field Service Training as dictated by department guidelines, to include achieving certifications within a requisite timeline.


• PLC and electrical competency is required. Appropriate training will be provided where needed.


• Position requires 25%-50% travel based on business needs.


• Possess ability to work independently and process all service related required documentation within the required timeframe.


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to be able to generate quotes for parts and services and log/track/resolve QC issues.


• Working directly with the customer to provide support as needed, as well as upselling and recommending maintenance plans, spare parts kits and equipment when applicable.


• Must be able to work in a variety of settings, including fast-paced industrial and food production environments


• Training personnel at the customer level on applicable packaging equipment as needed.


• Assists sales force in such areas as: equipment choice, customer demonstrations, and technical support/answers. Supports sales force by identifying new sales opportunities within plants.


• Maintains set quality standards in equipment function in all of the above.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 2-5 years experience in a related field.


• High School diploma or equivalent, Trade School diploma preferred.


• A desire to learn, practice, and deliver quality customer service.


• Ability to learn quickly.


• Good time management skills.


• Electrical or pneumatic certifications, or aptitude. Mechanical, and equipment programming training and/or military background is a plus.  If you have any one of these, we’ll teach you the rest!


• Experience in repair or packaging field products is a plus.


• Flexibility to travel on company expenses.
