Construction Manager at Applied Research Associates, Inc in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Job Description:

The Test Technology Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager to lead and direct our fielding and electronics technicians in support of many testing programs. As a Construction Manager, you will have the opportunity to apply your strong innovation and problem-solving skillset as you work with a dynamic group of engineers and scientists within a wide range of environments.


What You Will Do as a Construction Manager:



  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, safety, and growth opportunities to ARA’s highly skilled technicians

  • Work with ARA engineers and scientists in ensuring the fielding projects are completed on schedule and on budget

  • Support fielding activities at various work and test sites located on Kirtland AFB, WSMR, Moriarty and others

  • Direct and support fabrication efforts including tying rebar, building forms, placing concrete, finishing concrete, crane operations, heavy equipment operations, welding, machining, surveying, installing instrumentation on explosives and on test beds, and other duties as needed

  • Maintain a schedule for all technicians

  • Holding weekly scheduling meetings

  • Ensure maintenance of ARA and GFE equipment

  • Work with procurement personnel to ensure materials, equipment and subcontractors are on site when needed

  • Provide technical expertise to interpret drawings and specifications

  • Participate in Group Leader meetings and provide input from your group

  • Hold regular group meetings to discuss issues, provide training, and develop group members

Construction Manager Requirements:



  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction related job

  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance; US citizenship is required

  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail

  • Strong time and project management skills

  • Ability to work well within a team and achieve assignments independently

  • Experience with


    • Heavy equipment

    • Construction techniques (concrete, steel, rebar, machining)

    • OSHA safety compliance and oversight; Osha 10, 30 certifications

    • Construction Management

    • Documenting and communicating progress with MS Office etc.

  • Ability to


    • Stand and / or walk for extended periods of time

    • Lift, carry push or pull equipment up to 50 lbs.

  Construction Manager Preferences:



  • Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management…

  • EM-385-1-1 safety trained & certified
