Therapist - Forensic Services Support Program at Glade Run Lutheran Services in Butler, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Position Summary: The role of the Therapist - Forensic Services Support Program is to provide services to SMI incarcerated individuals during and up to thirty (30) days following incarceration to ensure a stable transition back into the community.  This would occur by employing a holistic service/strengths based approach that addresses conditions within the offender’s life that could contribute to recidivism, joblessness, homelessness, and/or substance abuse relapse. Glade Run recognizes that maintaining service continuity as the individual moves through the criminal justice system and returns to the community is critical.

REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Master’s degree in a counseling related field, and three-years Master-level clinical experience required with at least six months of the experience working with adults who have been involved in the criminal justice system 

  2. Professional license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) and credentialed required (Professional license does not include Licensed Social Worker – LSW)

  3. Must have completed a clinical practicum during Master’s program

  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with agency personnel and community stakeholders

  5. Ability to accept supervision

  6. Ability to adjust hours to job requirements

  7. Ability to work both independently and in a team

  8. Must have emotional stability to perform essential job functions

  9. Must be comfortable working in a correctional facility environment

  10. Must be able to work quickly and effectively in high pressured situations 

  11. Must be able to be able to work in a flexible work environment 

  12. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills

  13. Ability to protect the confidentiality of the clients

  14. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record

  15. Ability to identify with the agency’s mission statement and support the agency’s core values

  16. Must have acceptable PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance and FBI clearance

CORE COMPETENCIES:


  1. At the initial session, complete the Psychosocial and Health Assessment with the client to obtain pertinent social, psychiatric, developmental, family, educational, medical and other data essential for planning the treatment for each individual serviced.  

  2. During each session the therapist and consumer will work one or more skill sets that have been identified in the Treatment Plan goals and objectives. Every 150 days, the Therapist and the consumer will review the treatment plan in its entirety to review progress to date, and adjust outcome measures as needed.

  3. Discharge planning begins at the start of treatment. Discharge criteria will be incorporated into the psychosocial, treatment goals, and articulated specifically in the Treatment Plan. Discharge planning will focus on the needs of the consumer in home, work, recreation, and community settings. It will also anticipate the needs for continued services for stability and coping skills. At discharge, appropriate referrals will be made as needed to maintain and/or increase gains that have been made during treatment.
