Loan Officer at CFCU Community Credit Union in ithaca, New York

Job Description:

CFCU Community Credit Union (CFCU) desires a Loan Officer to assist members with their consumer lending needs; analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on CFCU’s lending policy. In addition, the position will be responsible for offering a variety of financial services initiated through established relationships with both existing and potential members.

Responsibilities:

• Interviews members to collect loan information concerning their needs, earnings, and financial condition.
• Analyzes current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decisions to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
• Establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
• Explains loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options.
• Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Participates in sales development activities, such as GAP and Life & Disability Protection, and other credit union deposit products.
• Keeps informed of current trends in consumer credit.
• Authorizes release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers payments, or due date change.
• Follows current loans to ensure compliance with terms and coordinates with collections.
• Works Saturdays on a rotational basis to fulfill business needs.  
• Participates in community events as a representative of CFCU.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• A high school education or GED.       
• Two years of lending or related experience.
• Must have an NMLS # and experience in Home Equity Lending.
• Well organized and detail oriented.
• Business development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
