Job Description:

The Product Owner will be responsible for setting the direction for new functionality and partnering with our architects to design the optimal system. The Product Owner should have a good understanding of the Asset Management and/or Private Banking business. He/She will be a key point of contact between the technology group and business stakeholders. The Product Owner will work with the business and technology to define a project and shape the project plan to deliver maximum value while managing risk. The Product Owner will ensure the agile process is followed and appropriate artefacts are produced and reviewed.

It will be beneficial to have strong technical experience in data management (specifically SQL queries) as well as exposure to Java development and business logic tools. The Product Owner should also have strong project management and communication skills and experience managing a product roadmap with multiple stakeholders. In this role the Product Owner will create that product roadmap and will not simply execute individual restrictions prescribed by the business or risk.

The successful candidate will also ensure the successful execution of the various projects under their remit. They should have a solid understanding of both Scrum and Waterfall execution methodologies as they will be involved in all phases of the project lifecycle to aid in successful project completion. This includes requirement gathering, engagement in scrum development, and test management.

Key responsibilities:


  • Driving the strategic and tactical solutions with the development teams to successful conclusions
  • Produce & prioritize backlog for development and estimation
  • Managing agile projects
  • Proactively identifying and resolving issues that may present a risk to on-time implementation of projects.
  • Budget management and tracking
  • Team Management across global regions
  • Requirements gathering and management
  • Flexibility in approach to analysis based on the complexity and scope of the change requested
  • High-level understanding & coordination with other technology teams on common functional areas
  • Be able to deliver solutions with an equal focus on the operational/business models as well as the technology solution
  • Ensure that requirements meet the global nature of the business while always take into account the end-to-end impact of any changes
  • Engagement in the scrum development process
  • Support developers with inquiries during iterations
  • Ensure QAs/Testers have proper understanding of requirements and so test cases can be developed
  • Efficient and effective verbal and written communication both within the Technology team and the stakeholders
  • Present technology analysis/design and feedback to stakeholders
  • Build and reinforce relationships with stakeholders through the whole value chain, as well as with other Tech groups
  • Monitoring for quality in our documentation and deliverables
  • Ensure sufficient testing effort is planned for every stage of the development cycle
  • Follow pre-determined guidelines ensuring project artifacts are completed and posted in accordance with the prescribed deadlines
  • Ensure documentation for each functional area is kept up to date with functionality release after release
  • Defining and managing complex projects across multiple application platforms partnering with multiple stakeholders across global time-zones

General Requirements:


  • University degree, or specialized training or equivalent work experience
  • A good understanding of the Asset Management and/or Private Banking business as well as extensive knowledge of financial industry concepts. Capital Markets products experience is a plus.
  • Experienced product owner and experience in managing a product roadmap with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills. Crisp & Clear verbal communication with the ability to be assertive when speaking to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent facilitation skills. Ability to command/lead facilitation meetings with clear & specific agenda. Keep the audience attentive and active in participation of the meetings
  • Experience in Agile methodology
  • Analytical mind, service-minded approach and keen to resolve problems
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
  • Excellent business analysis, test planning, activity planning skills. Ability to tailor communication of the plans (i.e., high level vs detailed level) based on the audience it pertains to
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Technical experience in data management (specifically SQL queries) as well as exposure to Java development and business logic tools a plus
  • Experience of working with a Global team in multiple time zones
