SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing Education manages the academic effectiveness, student satisfaction, and efficient operation of all activities of the department.  The Director of Nursing Education will be responsible for insuring and documenting the Nursing Education Program’s compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, the Board’s Rules and Regulations, the accrediting commission, and the program accrediting boards and bodies, and all other state and federal regulations as well as Concorde Career Colleges, Inc.  All Concorde associates are required to display professionalism and uphold Concorde’s Mission and the core values of respect for the individual, integrity, teamwork, customer service, and achievement.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Faculty Management


  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of faculty for employment and in developing strategies for faculty retention and promotion

  • Provide newly hired faculty an orientation to the Mission and Vison of Concorde Career Colleges, the Nursing program, classroom management, and the expectations of employment upon the faculty’s acceptance of the position

  • Conduct evaluations of faculty performance as required in accordance with the Concorde employment policy

  • Design and monitor development plans for faculty and participate in faculty promotion and retention

  • Ensure faculty input is utilized during the development of department scheduling, budgets, adoption of resources, and preparation requirements for assigned courses and committees

  • Provide leadership to the faculty during the ongoing, systematic development, implementation and evaluation of the nursing curriculum and other Nursing Education Program components

  • Provide faculty with feedback from student surveys, clinical sites, and annual surveys to ensure sufficient feedback on job performance is provided to the faculty member.  This feedback will also assist in the development of individual faculty improvement goals

  • Ensure there is no conflict of interest between any manager or faculty member’s private interest and Concorde’s educational offerings. (An example of a conflict of interest would be if a faculty member offers private pre-licensure testing services or products to Concorde students or graduates.)

  • Determine the need for additional Faculty release time for administrative duties

  • Provide a current written job description to the Board for all Faculty positions

Student Engagement


  • Conduct potential student interviews, orientations, and re-evaluations as required for admission into the Nursing program

  • Develop/confirm returning student scheduling each term to ensure completion of course requirements and availability of faculty and staff

  • Ensure student advising activities and satisfactory progress towards the graduation requirements of the program are completed, per Concorde’s policy.

  • Assist students with pre-licensure process and preparation for licensure testing

  • Attend all pinning and graduation ceremonies as scheduled by the campus

Administrative Duties


  • Demonstrate management and communication skills, and the knowledge and ability to judge instructors’ competence.  This position requires strong attention to details and a positive professional attitude

  • Supervise/confirm proper management of student records as required by accrediting bodies and Concorde policy

  • Ensure that student evaluations of faculty are completed at minimum, once per grading period.  Summaries are submitted to each faculty member in a timely manner

  • Ensure newly hired faculty receive an experienced faculty member who facilitates the orientation period of the newly hired faculty member

  • Identify, advocate, and develop resources services needed by students including clinical sites, classroom equipment, online programming, and other industry trends for student engagement

  • Participate in the budget planning process for and administering the Nursing Program budget

  • Participate in campus and organizational committee meetings as required and serve as a representative for any policy development, review, and implementation process

  • Assist the Campus President and Academic Dean with review of the campus catalog, campus policies, curriculum, and faculty workload as required

  • Actively engage in student affairs and ensure sound educational instruction is being delivered in accordance with industry standard best-practices

  • Maintain positive relationships with fellow Concorde campuses, programs, and the State Board of Nursing

  • Serve as a liaison between the campus and the State Board of Nursing and Accrediting bodies to ensure the program is following and in compliance with industry trends and law adjustments

  • Develop reports according to annual reporting matrix of National, State, and Programmatic accreditors and Board of Nursing requirements

  • Attend and/or conduct meetings to include but no limited to faculty meetings, campus meetings, organizational meetings, community advisory boards, and State Board of Nursing meetings as scheduled

  • Maintain an environment conducive to the teaching and learning process

  • Participate in activities that facilitate the DNEP’s professional expertise in the areas of administration, teaching and maintenance of nursing competence.  Methods of completion may include nursing practice, continuing education, writing, professional development, or participation in professional associates

  • Serve as a representative of Concorde within the community,  demonstrating organizational pillars of student-centered, community driven and achievement-based learning and foster the Nursing Education Program’s responsiveness to community/employer needs.


  • Acquire and maintain Registered Nursing license for the state of employment

  • Completion of Master’s in the Science of Nursing; doctorate preferred

  • Meet all qualifications as set forth by the Board of Nursing in the state if employment

  • Meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications

STATE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS


  • An active unencumbered registered nursing license to practice professional nursing in the state of Colorado

  • Documented knowledge and skills related to teaching of adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and curriculum evaluation

  • Four years of full-time, or equivalent, clinical experience as a practicing registered nurse

  • Two years of full-time, or equivalent, experience in teaching in an approved Nursing Education Program at the baccalaureate level or above
