Job Description:

IDEXX is seeking a full-time Formulation Technician with knowledge and experience in Chemistry to join our team in Roswell, Georgia. As a Formulation Technician with IDEXX, you will perform small and large-scale bulk processing, manufacturing and filtration for experimental and commercial diagnostic products, as well as operate laboratory instrumentation. You will calculate, weigh, measure and check raw materials to assure batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and are prepared within established tolerances. In this role, you will also maintain hand-written and electronic records in compliance with Quality System and Regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures, as well as assist with in-process testing to assure batches meet specifications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work on assignments that are routine in nature in which ability to recognize deviation and non-conformance to established practice is required. Determine appropriate action using established work instructions and guidelines.

  • Prepare routine small and large scale bulk reagent and buffer formulations according to established recipes as defined in Quality System documentation.

  • Perform routine filtration of manufactured formulations.

  • Use and maintain production and laboratory equipment including, but not limited to; scales, pH meters, centrifuges, mixing/blending equipment, volumetric devices, spectrophotometers and pipets.

  • Indentify and communicate deviations and nonconformances to immediate supervisor.

  • Maintain detailed production records in strict adherence to Quality System requirements.

  • Perform planned and unplanned duties as assigned according to scheduled deadlines.

EDUCATION:


  • High School degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry or related experience preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to take direction and perform duties receiving general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions under direct supervision.

  • Basic to moderate understanding and fluency in the use of computers and software.

  • Ability to read and interpret Quality System documentation, standard operating procedures, work instructions, material safety data sheets, technical procedures and maintenance instructions.

  • Ability to multiply, divide, add and subtract in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals following basic algebraic rules.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and conversions using the metric system.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form before groups of peers and managers.

  • Ability to work effectively in a large team environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Regularly required to stand and sit for extended periods; extend and reach with hands and arms; and use hands and fingers to handle, squeeze, twist and manipulate objects, controls and tools.

  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Regularly required to push, pull and maneuver liquid filled containers up to 450+ pounds on rollers, pallet jacks and carts.

  • Regularly required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
