Production Tech I at Bio-Rad Laboratories in Woodinville, Washington

Job Description:

The Production Tech I will work in the Immunofluorescent Assay (IFA) production group, where they would prepare and cut mouse stomach-kidney (MSK) tissue sections for mounting to glass slide wells. The mounted MSK tissue sections (substrate) is utilized in the detection of a variety of Autoimmune disorders.

Responsibilities

The Production Tech I will utilize a cryostat tissue cutting machine for the sectioning of mouse stomach-kidney tissue in a controlled environment for the MSK slide product. Other duties include the sacrificing of live mice for kidney and stomach extraction, preparing the stomach-wrapped kidney for freezing in liquid Nitrogen, daily preparation and monthly cleaning of the cryostat tissue-cutting machines, tissue cutting and placement of tissue slices onto the wells of the MSK slides followed by slide fixation. Maintain inventory and proper handling care of the mice, maintain, clean and minor repairs to cryostat equipment. Other duties include document preparation.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Associates Degree preferred and/or knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Experience: 0 - 2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing experience preferred - working in a team environment.

Skills: Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, attention to detail, good manual dexterity - good hand/eye coordination, minor trouble-shooting skills, ability to work in both an individual or team environment. Also, the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, lift 50 lbs. in addition to having skills in general math, time management and using Microsoft Office.
