Executive Summary:



This Demand Planning position is responsible for all Forecasting activities associated with customers and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for their respective business, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other sources (i.e.: FMI, Dodge or other syndicated consumer data). The Demand Planner is the integration point into the Sales and Commercial organization. Responsible to build, maintain, and evolve Anaplan modules, lists, and dashboards to meet business needs. Advanced Forecast modeling experience with Planning Tools. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Finance.



Basic Functions:




  • Develop Demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.


  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.


  • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.


  • Interact with Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Finance to understand Demand forecast drivers.


  • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Commercial Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.


  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary Forecasting Tool ensuring input data is accurate and mined from a trusted source.


  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing Inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.


  • Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans and market share gain opportunities with Supply Planning.



Job Functions:




  • Work with the Commercial Business Unit - Sales, Finance, Manufacturing Operations, and Supply Chain within the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure alignment between the Forecast and Financial targets


  • Advocate and promote advanced forecasting methods and tools


  • Prepare and present the Demand Plan and its assumptions, drivers, and risks during the S&OP Demand Review meetings


  • Advance existing Planning tools (Anaplan and Tools Group) to increase modeling techniques in support of mid to long range planning in an industrial project-based and quick turn-over Supply Chain business models


  • Develop Demand Forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons


  • Review and analyze historical Sales trends, research Demand drivers, prepare Forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results


  • Create baseline Forecasts, maintaining data and forecast integrity in the Forecasting tool(s) as well as other related platforms such as key events; communicate forecast to internal customers


  • Drive continued improvements to forecast accuracy through cross functional alignment and partnership


  • Problem solving the highest causes of error by researching error, determining root cause, and driving for improvement.


  • Build, maintain, and evolve Anaplan modules, lists, dashboards, actions, and other model settings to meet business needs


  • Responsible for developing and managing governance over forecasting models, dashboards, user roles, and calculations



Key Results:




  • A Demand Forecast which incorporates current and accurate market information that allows the company to correctly predict customer demand and provide its supply chain with the appropriate information to plan how to meet that customer demand.


  • Improved relationships among planners, Sales, Marketing and Commercial Finance, which will lead to effective knowledge sharing and an optimal consensus forecast to better guide the company.


  • Refined systems and methods to continually improve forecasts so that the company can better anticipate customer needs.


  • Excellence in customer replenishment and feedback to the Supply Chain group for the opportunities and risks regarding customer replenishment performance metrics.



Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills




  • Three plus years of experience in the industry.


  • BA/BS college degree or its equivalent.


  • APICS or other Forecasting Certification preferred
