Job Description

The Sr. CDM– Capabilities role is focused on driving the decision-making process within Kimberly-Clark through insights and analytics. The role will leverage data from a variety of sources such as syndicated providers (Nielsen / IRI), internal databases (e.g. SAP S/4 Hana), and/or any other dataset using analysis applications such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI or others to find insights. The ability to translate insights into actions is critical in the functioning of this role. 

The successful candidate will blend strong internal capabilities with creative, thoughtful perspectives, and will champion new initiatives that demonstrate breakthrough thinking. Proliferating this thinking throughout the decision-making process with sales, business units, and shopper marketing organizations is key. Expanding knowledge of the “Digital Path to Purchase” and “Online Opportunities” are important tenants to fuel future growth potential for K-C.

With direct access to leadership, this individual will lead projects that contribute to achievement of corporate objectives and help shape strategies.

This position is based in Kimberly Clark’s Chicago Commercial Center, located in Fulton Market, Chicago.

Essential Functions


  • Facilitate the reporting and analysis of key objectives, trends, and business results including, but not limited to, channel shifts, market share, key digital metrics (e.g. search), and/or share of shelf

  • Be able to extrapolate and analyze various data sources/drivers to make predictions for various planning business unit processes (i.e. Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Business Planning)

  • Lead the incorporation of advanced capabilities for the larger Category Management team (i.e. data visualizations and insights) into everyday business practices

  • Drive efficiencies through the development of category management standard work and best practices

  • Optimize value creation with 3rd party partners (i.e. Nielsen & Kantar)

  • Able to establish and attain high standards for both the individual and the larger team; able to make decisions and solve problems independently

  • Drive collaboration across the larger Shopper Engagement organization (category field teams, HQ category management, BU Sales, and Shopper Marketing) to dimension growth areas and find opportunities

Experience


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required, post-graduate degree in business or analytics a plus

  • At least 6 years of experience in the CPG industry analyzing/interpreting data, project management skills, and using shopper insights to inform recommendations

  • Familiarity with the following types of data and concepts to grow categories: syndicated, household panel, macro-economic (e.g. birth rates), retailers’ planograms, shopper research, assortment analyses, and general marketing concepts

  • Possess an understanding of the omni-channel environment, its drivers, and its impacts on the markets/categories Kimberly-Clark competes in

  • Capability to merge data from disparate sources to find relationships, patterns, and insights

  • Technical skills include a comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, space planning software (e.g. JDA); a scripting language (e.g. python) and ability to create queries in SQL a plus

  • Effective communicator and influencer with senior leaders and/or internal executives, but also with business partners (i.e. ITS)

  • Capable of managing major projects simultaneously
