The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Thermal Research Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Leading thermal management related programs for electronics


• Implementing programs in collaboration with customers  


• Determining new product opportunities by collaborating with internal global 3M experts and customers


• Initiate and contribute to intellectual property

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering or Physics (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Experience in thermal experimentation and analytics


• Experience in CFD/ Multiphysics modeling

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics with thermal management focus


• Effective communication, interpersonal and team skills to perform in a variety of cross-functional team situations


• Three (3) years of experience in developing electronics thermal management related solutions


• Working knowledge of electronics cooling and thermal management at component and system level


• Experience with SolidWorks, Matlab and/or Python

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
