The French Program of the Department of French and Italian at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a full-time visiting lecturer of French to teach three 3-credit courses for spring semester 2022. The appointment will begin on January 1, 2022 and end on April 30, 2022. Such courses meet three times a week for 50 minutes or twice a week for 75 minutes. Course duties may include elementary and intermediate-level courses in the language sequence, more advanced courses in literature, culture, and conversation (taught in French), or general education courses taught in English for a broad audience.

Eligible instructors must have at least a Master's degree in French or in a related field, a high level of spoken and written proficiency in French and English, and experience teaching French in a college or university setting. The candidate must possess broad competence in teaching introductory and intermediate French language courses that employ current foreign language pedagogical approaches (communicative, content-based, multiliteracies, and genre-based pedagogies). Some service to the department will be expected. Duties may include conversation tables and other undergraduate events.

To apply, upload a letter of interest, CV, teaching statement, diversity statement, sample course materials and syllabi, and evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., 2-3 sets of representative student evaluations with comments), and contact information for three persons able to provide confidential professional letters of recommendation (we do not need the letters themselves at this time, but we do need the names of recommenders) to Talent Center. The diversity statement should address your contributions to diversity through research, service and/or community engagement. Applicants should share how their past, planned, or potential contributions or experiences relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion will advance the University of Pittsburgh's commitment to inclusive excellence.

Review of applications will begin on August 30, 2021. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. We will request additional materials (including three letters of recommendation) after the initial screening.

Questions may be directed to Victoria Donahoe, Administrative Assistant, at vjd8@pitt.edu .
