We are recruiting for a Quality Improvement Director (Mental Health Administrator 5) in the Office of Hospital Services. OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments.

Brief Overview

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, administer Hospital Services statewide quality improvement and strategic planning initiatives. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring a common statewide approach within the regional psychiatric hospitals (i.e., RPH). This position will oversee and provide guidance to RPHs regarding quality assurance/performance improvement (i.e., QA/PI), and lead the development of strategic planning within Hospital Services.

Responsibilites include, but are not limited to:


  • Develop, implement, and monitor a common statewide apprach within the RPHs for the use of data and analytical tools to measure performance and develop effective indicators.

  • Oversee RPH QA/PI monitoring of hospital incidents for quality, consistency, and timeliness.

  • Make recommendations to improve the quality and integrity of the data and related processes.

  • Work with RPH QA/PI offices to develop and publish an annual summary of performance improvement activities.

  • Lead statewide review of RPH QA/PI initiatives, plans and policies.

  • Propose improvements.

  • Make recommendations to assure compliance with accrediting/certifying agencies.

  • Lead RPH QA/PI directors in the development of statewide reports and data to help assess policy effectiveness and support leadership in evaluating policy decisions.

  • Coordinate and lead process improvement projects within the hospital system.

  • Assist Medical Director with special projects and data requests.

  • Act for the Director in the absence of the Assistant Director and Deputy Director on matters related to Hospital Services operations.

  • Lead the development of Hospital Services strategic planning and related performance measures.

  • Facilitate review of goals and outcomes with Hospital Services leadership and CEOs.

  • Participate in governing body meetings.

  • Make recommendations to strengthen hospital review of goals and use of data.

  • Develop agency wide performance measures and  review for trends and patterns of performance.

  • Coordinate the review of national bench-marking indicators/requirements with RPH QA/PI offices (e.g., Joint Commission core measures).

  • Support and facilitate the use of data with the RPHs (e.g., assist in the development of a process to provide data to RPHs in a user friendly format and timely manner, develop an ongoing program to educate staff about data use and content, develop an ongoing support regarding data analysis/software use).

  • Work with staff within Hospital Services and the Office of Information Services to coordinate services, technical support, and education.

  • Attend committee meetings as requested by the Assistant Director, Deputy Director, or Medical Director.

  • Provide backup and support to the Hospital Services Safety Director regarding major unusual incidents and alert process.

  • Participate and provide support to the Morbidity and Mortality Committee.

  • Track root cause analyses associated with hospital incidents to identify common patterns and risk management issues.

  • Conduct and/or attend meetings, presentations, trainings, and conferences.

  • Respond to inquiries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration or mental health technology (e.g., psychology, rehabilitation, social work); 12 mos. exp. in area to be assigned.

Or completion of graduate core program in public administration or business administration.

Or 12 mos. exp. as Mental Health Administration 4, 65224, in Department of Mental Health.

Note: prior training &/or experience must be directly related to area to be assigned.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous quality and performance improvement in an inpatient psychiatric hospital
