Job Description:

OU Office of Enrollment Management Communications and Marketing (EMCOMM) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement. We're currently looking for a new team member for our EMCOMM team.

As part of the Enrollment Management Communications and Marketing team, the Marketing and Communications Writer supports all communications efforts, tasked with crafting messages for internal and external audiences and managing communications projects for the Division of Enrollment Management. In addition, the Marketing and Communications Writer provides assistance with marketing, storytelling, media relations, events, tour presentations, CRM functions, publication development, and digital communications. This position is responsible for creating content for both prospective and returning students and their families at OU. This includes important information for the Office of Admissions & Recruitment, Financial Aid Services, the Student Financial Center, the Office of the Registrar, Scholarship Office, and the MidFirst Bank MoneyCoach Program.


  • Helps develop and implement internal and external communications such as newsletters, email content, admission letters, scholarship notices, news releases, announcements, blog posts, and marketing publications.

  • Writes, edits, and proofs brochures, newsletters, emails, blog posts, ads, proposals, presentations, and other publications while maintaining consistency with university brand standards.

  • Builds and schedules emails within the Division's CRM. Slate technical experience is preferred.

  • Supports OU colleges, departments, programs, and administrative offices with the creation and editing of content, including feature stories, profiles, website content, etc.

  • Assists with content creation and online posting to OU website and social media channels. CMS technical experience is preferred.

  • Performs research, analyze data, and assist with development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Division's communications, marketing, and media efforts.

  • Jointly oversees student intern.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree  or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:


  • 18-36 months experience in writing, journalism, creative media production, project management

Skills:


  • Proficient in Adobe Suite

  • Strong interviewing skills

  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Knowledge of AP style

  • Creative

  • Strong organizational skills a must

  • Detail oriented

  • Demonstrated decision-making skills

  • Research and computer skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to take initiative and take on new projects

  • Must meet deadlines and work well under pressure

Certifications:


  • A valid driver's license is required to assist with events

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Must be able to pull, push, lift, engage in repetitive motions, communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally.
