Job Description


The Financial Services Department (F$D) is looking for a motivated individual to join the Planning and Analysis team to provide business intelligence (BI), reporting and data analytics support. As a team, the Planning and Analysis group will maintain, redefine, develop, and prepare meaningful financial reports, dashboards, and metrics for management reporting and analytics.

A key member of the Financial Services Planning and Analysis Team, the Analyst, Business Intelligence & Reporting will directly support the group by partnering with Financial Services Department leadership, Divisional/Department Business Managers and the Information Services Department BI and Data Analytics organization to identify and define key reporting and analytics requirements and build out critical functionality in this area by leveraging both existing and new technology solutions. This position will also support the roll-out of a Business Planning & Forecasting solution in addition to a Laboratory-wide BI solution.


Position Summary



  • Support reporting and analytics requirements related to the SAP S4 implementation, including the creation of new reporting functionality and identification of process improvement opportunities.

  • Support implementation of a new Laboratory-wide business intelligence suite including the creation of key metrics, reports, analytics and executive dashboards. Serve as a BI subject matter expert within F$D.

  • Participate in the implementation of a Business Planning & Forecasting solution with a specific focus on data analytics, reporting and integration with SAP S4 ERP system. Work with Division/Department and Group Business Management to define reporting & data analytics requirements.

  • Help maintain and develop laboratory-level metrics and key performance indicators.

  • Provide reporting and analytics support for key F$D functions including ceiling management, Grey Book, Funding, Laboratory Operations Report, Director's Office data calls and other areas as required.

  • Serve as key liaison with Data Scientist resources within both F$D and the ISD BI & Data Analytics group, particularly as it relates to definition and creation of data reporting models.


Requirements



  • 5 - 8 years of business intelligence, reporting and data analytics experience, preferably in a university or non-profit research environment.

  • Skilled with BI, data analytics and reporting tools, including but not limited to SAP Analytics Cloud, Qlik, Power BI and/or Tableau.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, particularly PowerQuery and PowerPivot; experience with SAP and relational database tools a plus.

  • Experience with the development of financial metrics, dashboards, and reporting

  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills and effective written and oral communication skills (including presentations) and customer service.

  • Ability to analyze, discuss and present financial results/reports

  • Able to work independently, problem solve and drive positive change within an organization

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree is required (Business/Finance/Information Services), Master's degree a plus.
