This position will provide comprehensive coordinating support to Proterra’s Change and Configuration Manager and other site leadership team members. The BOM Specialist will be part of a team that executes the full configuration management process lifecycle, including Manufacturing Change Requests, Manufacturing Change Orders, part, drawing and document review, Change Management Boards, product structure and architecture, and baseline release. This is an important organization that supports the overall Enterprise end to end for product changes and configuration. For this role the candidate must be well-rounded and have technical knowledge of how product life cycle management tools work at the tactical execution level. The candidate should have an understanding of how the enterprise system tools and components (PLM/PDM, ERP, rapid planning, work orders, MES, production orders, etc.) work together and function. This position will work closely and coordinate BOMs with Engineering and Manufacturing.
About the Role – You will:
Manage and maintain Bills of Material:
Setup and Maintain a base BOM
Update existing BOMs from change instructions
Translate Engineering BOM to Manufacturing BOM
Create and track actions items that are required after Change Order is effective to successfully implement the change– additional actions may be required to fully implement change. This person will generate and track actions additional to ECO release
Review and assign Process Change Request for action
Review and implement Change Orders (MCOs), Deviations, and reworks.
Identify Process gaps and provide suggestions for continuously improving BOM structure and management and advocating best practices
Provide configuration management planning. Describe provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. Regulate the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software.
Define, manage, and maintain product structure/architecture and logic for configurable products (Configurator features and options).
Other duties as assigned by management.

You will report to the Change and Configuration Manager and collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC

Your Experience Includes:
Background in manufacturing or engineering very beneficial with a 2-year or 4-year degree from technical college or 3+ years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with complex, integrated assemblies is required
1+ years of experience in working directly with engineering change and/or configuration management processes or developing and managing product structure
Experience working with both R&D and production rate environment with short time to market of new products
Hands-on PLM/MRP/ERP systems experience
Demonstrated understanding of product release life cycle as it relates to the creation and change management of product structure, requirements, parts and BOM structures
Experience working with stakeholders to develop and refine processes that support the enterprise change and configuration process

CMII/CMPIC/NDIA certification is a plus
