New England Biolabs (NEB) is seeking to hire a Plant Engineer with strong biopharmaceutical production and laboratory operations background. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting biopharmaceutical production facilities and projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Production & Development Support
Responsible for the scale-up design of processes and systems supporting development and production operations.
Provide support for ongoing production operations at both Rowley GMP and Ipswich facilities.
Responsible for maintenance and development of controls and monitoring systems supporting production and facilities operations.
Failure/Contamination Investigations.
Recommend process and equipment design improvements to gain efficiency and minimize downtime.
Manage production equipment vendors through design, installation, start-ups, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting failures.
Project Support
Develop execution plans and identify project resources supporting new production capacity and renovation of existing systems.
Develop scope, schedule and budget for proposed projects and achieve those goals throughout the project lifecycle.
Evaluate existing building services and process utilities for capacity and support of new production and laboratory systems.
Develop specifications for equipment, instrumentation, components, and systems supporting development and production operations.
Coordinate with vendors on expediting, installation, and start-up activities.
Perform training related to new equipment and systems to operational and facilities personnel.
Review of engineering and vendor specifications and submittals.
QA/QC Support
Commissioning and Start-Up of Building Services and Qualified Systems
Develop and Maintain Qualification Drawings/Documents
Personnel, Material, Product Flow Diagrams
Area Classifications
Support Change Control Process (GMP Production)
Support Validation Activities
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in life science and/or related industry.
Bachelor’s degree; mechanical or Chemical Engineering Discipline Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and process systems employed in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process.
Strong management skills to successfully lead and implement various projects.
Must be able to organize and prioritize on a daily basis based on current needs.
Strong verbal & written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database and email applications.
Practical knowledge of biopharmaceutical processes and operations.
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation requiring response to building alarms during off hours (nights, weekends and holidays). Willingness to work overtime or a temporarily modified shift schedule to support production operations and needed.
