JOB TITLE: Imaging Technologist - General Mammographer
LOCATION OR DEPARTMENT: Clinic
EXEMPT STATUS/GRADE: Non-Exempt/Step Scale
REPORTS TO: Clinic Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Perform mammography exams and procedures according to established protocols to provide quality images and patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Perform all mammography exams and procedures according to established protocols to provide quality images and patient care in a timely manner.
· Obtain patient history, answer questions, and provide the patient with information about the exam and/or procedure so they are comfortable and thoroughly understand it.
· Work with the radiologists, referring clinics and/or patients to ensure the appropriate exams, images and medical records are correct and prepared for the exam.
· Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate and complete for the radiologist, referring clinic and the patient's medical records.
· Incorporate company values into daily interactions with internal and external customers.
· Other duties may include, but are not limited to, training new employees, stocking and/or ordering department supplies and assisting in other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· RT (R) from an approved educational program required.
· 40 hours training/education specific to mammography and 25 supervised mammograms before working independently.
· 6-12 months mammography experience preferred.
· RT (R)(M) registration required within one year of working in modality and maintained in good standing.
· CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
· Knowledge of basic radiologic principles, procedures, methods and techniques required.
· Knowledge of anatomy and physiology required.
· Excellent patient care, problem solving, organizational, communication and technical skills required.
· Ability to work independently, in a team, and with all levels of the organization required.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative required.
· Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure a safe work environment.
· Must be competent in using a computer keyboard, email, MS Word, RIS and PACS or similar applications.

DAILY PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Requires a moderate amount of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, gripping, twisting, turning and repetitive motion; some bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, telephone and other office equipment. Ability to assist patients to walk, sit, stand and move to and from the exam table, wheelchair and/or Hoyer lift.

Environmental/working conditions:
· High-Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood products, bodily fluids and/or hazardous materials common to a radiology setting.
· High-Potential exposure to ionizing radiation exams rooms and/or involved in the use of ionizing radiation common to a radiology setting.
