Assembly Technician, 2nd Shift at Pelican Products in South Deerfield, Massachusetts

Job Description:

Overview:

Performs any operations to assemble and finish a wide variety of complex design cases, including prototypes, with minimal direction and supplied documentation. Works closely with Engineering staff to recommend and implement design changes swiftly and accurately for ease of manufacturability, prior to production release.

What You'll Do:

• Works from incomplete and complex engineering prints, bills of materials, assembly drawings, written and/or verbal instructions. Determines sequence of operations, set up and layout of work area to assemble containers and performs other operations required for finishing and assembly of containers.




• Interfaces with customers when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction and to improve customer product including, but not limited to, customer product improvements and product testing.




• Assists in the fabrication of production fixturing for designs.




• Picks parts and supplies from racks. Assembles container according to prints and specifications. Attaches hardware using fixtures.




• May perform gluing, taping, flame treating and labeling operations. Notifies supervisor or others as appropriate of inspection failures, out of tolerance/specification situations and any other problems. Sets up and operates cutting, drilling.




• Performs pressure "leak" testing, records results and determines leak cause for out-of-specification conditions. Reports out-of-specification conditions. Repairs, retests, and documents results. Performs inspection on finished containers, and stamps as approved. Performs repair operations as requested.




• Trains all lower level assemblers/fabricators in the operations of the group.




• Travels to other Pelican facilities and customers as needed.




• Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision.

What You'll Need:

• Must possess 1 - 3 years of experience in assembly of complex design and be proficient in the cut and weld process.




• Must be able and willing to travel occasionally on an as-needed basis.




• Must be proficient in use of all tools related to cutting, trimming, routing containers, assembly tools, drill presses, welding tools, hand and power tools, laminating and pressing equipment including saws, die cutting press, glue applicators.
