The primary role of the market demand planner is to ensure a rolling 18+ month forecast is developed, reviewed, published, and adjusted as needed by partnering with sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain. The demand planner will manage a portfolio of approximately 300-500 SKUs and will develop a forecast by using insights such as promotional plans, distribution changes, shipment history, competitor activities and marketing plans. This position is a key driver in creating and managing the true consumer demand signals by which to align the rest of the supply chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a key player in the S&OP process as the process owner of Step 2
Analyze historical and future demand inputs such as distribution changes, price changes, new products launches, and calculate their impacts on demand
Make recommendations to enhance business processes, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies
Work with cross-functional partners on projects such as new product launches, obsolescence, and transitions to evaluate assumptions– new product forecast, pipeline fill, and cannibalization
Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Finance on advertising and promotional plans and evaluate against performance from similar historical activities
Work with statistical demand planner to ensure statistical models are creating sensible 24-month rolling baseline forecasts; help maintain cleansed history in APO at the appropriate level
Ensure demand plan is shared in level of detail and timing required by internal customers and supply chain partners with documented assumptions, including risks and opportunities
Conduct monthly root cause analyses on forecast error and identify corrective actions
Measure, analyze, and communicate key process metrics and monitor adherence to key performance indicators, while driving continuous improvement
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
B.S. degree in Operations Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field required, or an advanced degree with a minimum of one year of experience, ORmilitary experience considered in lieu of education requirement and three years of combined experience in demand planning, sales, and/or supply chain
Minimum three (3) years of combined experience in demand planning, sales, and/or supply chain
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Experience in the CPG industry
Experience with planning applications such as SAP, APO, or SAS
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across all levels within the organization
Ability to drive action and influence decision making at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and presentation skills
Experience leading process improvement initiatives
Quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs
