Associate Editor or Senior Editor, Nature Materials

Location: London, Berlin, New York or Shanghai

Nature Research is recruiting an Associate or Senior for Nature Materials. The position is offered on a permanent basis.We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds. 

 

Nature Materials is a prestigious international monthly journal covering all aspects of cutting-edge materials research.  We are seeking candidates with scientific background and research experience in biomedical engineering. 

 

The ideal candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent) and preferably postdoctoral experience, with a strong research record.  In addition to a deep understanding of their own subject, they should be able to demonstrate a general interest in other areas of biomaterials, nanomedicine, cell therapy and soft matter. Previous editorial experience is not required as full training is given, yet candidates with substantial editorial experience will be considered for Senior Editor. Proficiency in scientific writing and in developmental editing is desirable.

 

This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating position. Broad scientific expertise, the ability to absorb new knowledge, and a keen interest in the communication of science are prerequisites. We seek candidates who are resourceful, open-minded, decisive and diligent. The role involves constant learning, and offers flexibility in self-management and a sensible balance of independence and collaborative teamwork.

 

The successful applicant will work within a close-knit multidisciplinary team of editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, the overseeing of peer review, the generation and discussion of ideas for new content, the commissioning and editing of reviews, comments, and writing. Editors play an important role in determining the representation of their subjects in the journal and the position also requires attendance to international scientific conferences and liaising regularly with researchers via conference calls and on-site visits.

 

The position will be based in our London, Berlin, New York or Shanghai offices.

All employees are currently working remotely but you will be required to be based in the office, once offices re-open in line with our working from home policy.
