The Position:

The Copywriter (hybrid role aka Content Writer) combines the talents of left and right brain thinking. This person must have the digital mindset for editorial/ journalistic content that is informative and conceptual/strategic marketing copy that delivers results–all through the voice of brand storytelling.

The position requires a collaborative spirit to work with other creatives within an in-house creative agency and marketing team to; brainstorm ideas, visualize concepts that dovetails imagery and words into compelling creative, develop content that finds a unique angle, strategize to support the big idea, and can analyze and interpret data into emotive copy that drives call to action. And help colleagues in social media as a friendly gadfly who can question and pose novel thinking about topics of relevance or importance

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years as copywriter/creative content writer with an advertising agency, digital agency or within a creative in-house setting
Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities; emphasis on digital marketing and content development
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to apply strategic thinking to creative problem solving
Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to conceptualize and develop ideas or messages around business and marketing objectives
Ability to use MAC computer and creative software (preferred)
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work on multiple creative assignments simultaneously
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Strong grasp of language rules, specifically grammar usage, spelling and punctuation

Responsibilities:
Functional

Excellent writer; write effective, persuasive copy and execute brand voice and tone on
advertising, collateral, brand development, publications, promotions, signage, video, web and other channels as needed
Storyboard concepts through both scripts and visual ideation
Proactive maintenance of ongoing communications (informational)
Active participation and collaboration with the internal creative team in strategy development and creative brainstorm of concepts for market driven projects (lead generation)
Proactively engage with marketing colleagues and other staff to facilitate information needed to develop copy
Present creative work, and or pitch ideas to stakeholders at all stages of development for buy in or directional input to move creative to the next step of the process
Develop sample copy for brand identity program voice and tone guidelines
Contribute to and follow brand grammar guidelines

Strategic

A marketing mindset with the ability to understand customers needs and how Great Dane is the brand to go with versus competitors via understanding differentiation and positioning of brands
Through storytelling, inspire the customer emotionally and connect relevant facts as a way to create call to action, brand remembrance and drive brand preference
Analyze data to spin into content or copy that’s meaningful and relevant to the target audience and evaluate performance from past work for continual improvement
Translate marketing objectives from creative briefs, and add input into strategy as needed during creative development to drive results or hit communication goals–-or in other words, distilling strategy points into compelling and emotive storytelling, pushing call-to-action (CTA), all with brevity in mind
Role requires holistic thinking to connect the dots across all channels via the brand, campaign themes or company wide initiatives
Be a team member by working with creative manager to execute on creative vision and work with graphic designers to dovetail copy with design and layout–-it’s the overall ability to pitch ideas, visualize concepts and think about what imagery could work with those words
Elevate the brand’s premium positioning through copy that reflects brand voice and tone, and own/defend the chosen words in the copy as this can be interpretative and open to opinion
