Ohio Department of Public Safety - Office of Criminal Justice Services/Fiscal Monitoring & Compliance Section
 
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
 
Monitor compliance of one or more statewide criminal justice grants (e.g., Department of Justice grants, State of Ohio General Revenue Fund grants) in the field & provide technical assistance to state & local agencies & Executive Director regarding grant related issues; Conduct on-site fiscal monitoring to include ensuring compliance with applicable federal & state statutes, regulations, & grant requirements (e.g., uniform administrative requirements & cost principles for federal & state grants); Assess internal controls developed & implemented by the sub-grantee to demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements, including organizational operations, policies, procedures, financial reports, & record-keeping; Test the allowability of expenditures charged to federal & state grants; Review reference materials & confer with staff members relative to previous fiscal monitoring & submitted quarterly sub-grantee reports; Identify problems & provide corrective solutions & timeframes.
 
Review submitted Quarterly Sub-Grantee for accuracy; Assess back-up documentation & Equipment Inventory Reports for compliance with approved budget; Communicate with sub-grantees to ensure updates are made within the on-line grants management system; Review Quarterly Summary Report reimbursement requests & provide recommendations; Partner with Grant Planners & Grant Coordinators from OCJS to accomplish grant goals; Assist in preparing supporting schedules & materials.
 
Prepare final fiscal monitoring report summarizing work performed, findings & recommendations to improve/resolve deficiencies or non-compliance; Review grant applications; Prepare special reports & correspondence; Collaborate with appropriate representatives to be involved in fiscal monitoring & outline scope of monitoring to be performed; Attend meetings or participate in discussion of findings with appropriate representatives of entity being monitored; Perform other related duties as assigned.

Completion of undergraduate core program in criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement, political science, sociology or public/business administration; must be able to provide own transportation.

-Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in monitoring criminal justice programs or grants; must be able to provide own transportation.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
