Overview:

Veeco is looking for an NPI Engineer who will be responsible for the transition of new products and processes from Engineering to Manufacturing and Supply Chain. This position will work closely will product engineering to define manfuacturing requirements within the New Product Development (NPD) process. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between functional groups and the Manufacturing & Supply Chain (MSC) organization and will ensure that all stakeholder requirements are properly communicated.

Responsibilities:


  • Participate in early-stage product development and communicate expectations and ensure the successful capture of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Test, Installation & Service requirements

  • Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments. Review engineering drawings and technical documentation to ensure all requirements are met before transition to manufacturing and supply chain

  • Act as the manufacturing liaison to Engineering team and Operations for resolving technical problems and provide rapid prototyping support

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to develop efficient methods for assembling product. Design or specify manufacturing equipment, tooling and processes as required

  • Interface between Development Engineering and Operations to ensure new products are successfully transferred to production

  • Administer efficient release of products to production in fast paced multi-tasking environment

  • Create, load, and maintain product build of materials (BOM's) ensuring alignment with an efficient manufacturing process and existing manufacturing work instructions

  • Execute engineering change orders , ensuring compliance to defined processes

  • Update and redline solid models, part drawings, and work instructions as needed to support product development and engineering change orders

  • Respond to issues during transition to production and rapidly implement solutions

  • Assist in developing efficient manufacturing flow strategies and follow safe engineering and manufacturing practices at all times

Qualifications:

Bachelorsdegree in atechnical engineeringfield (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) and aminimumof 5years ofexperience or a Master's degree with 3years of experience or a PhDis required.Semiconductor or similar industry experience is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, SmarTeam, and AutoCad is highly desirable

  • Experience with SAP MRP system is preferred

  • Experience in working with contract manufacturers desired

  • Must have demonstrated ability to use engineering judgment to resolve issues under tight deadline constraints with minimal supervision

  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to see how details fit into the overall big picture

  • Must possess excellent communications skills and have demonstrated ability to work successfully with engineers, manufacturing technicians, and suppliers
