MAINTENANCE MECHANIC 2nd CLASS - Automatic Rolls of New Jersey (Edison, NJ) at Northeast Foods in Edison, New Jersey

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and installation tasks on the physical plant, equipment and machinery, according to standards.

Safety:

It is the responsibility of the Mechanic to ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition at all times, unless locked out for repair / P.M.

1). All equipment will be locked out prior to beginning work or removing guards.

2). Do not attempt to operate equipment without prior knowledge of the operation.

3). Make sure equipment is clear of personnel or foreign objects before starting.

4). Do not attempt to stick any type of object into equipment while it is running.

5). Always keep hands and arms free from moving parts.

6). Report any potential safety hazard immediately.

7). Ensure all electric cabinets / enclosures are closed, locked and sealed.

8). Maintain clean uniforms, shirt tucked in, sleeves buttoned or rolled up.

POSITION REPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR DUTIES

1). Answer trouble calls to production equipment.

2). Perform Preventive Maintenance routines as assigned.

3). Complete assigned work request repairs.

4). Follow any special instructions of Engineer staff.

5). Complete all related forms and paperwork prior to end of shift.

6). Maintain shop and shop equipment in a clean and safe condition.

7). Ensure all equipment is in a sanitary condition after performing work prior to release back to Production Dept.

8). Test run all equipment after any repairs or P.M.'s.

9). Maintain minimum tool list. Carry tools to all calls.

10). Practices and complies with all Company policies and procedures including safety and work rules.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS

LICENSE - License as required by state, industry, city, county, (boiler, refrigeration, etc.)

Must possess/maintain a valid license to operate a forklift.

MOBILITY - Physically capable to rapid, unimpeded movement to all areas of plant. Able to

Climb fixed and portable ladders. Able to crawl under and climb onto

. machinery and equipment Able to enter and exit confined spaces.

OTHER - Ability to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs,

Etc. Must have ability to wear/use approved applicable safety equipment, as

Needed.

Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral

Part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Sanitation:

1). Proper G.M.P.'s shall be followed at all times.

2). Shop will be swept prior to end of shift daily.

3). All unserviceable used parts will be disposed of prior to end of shift.

4). Parts storage areas will be maintained in an orderly manner.
