The Buyer/Planner is responsible for keeping production flowing smoothly with needed materials and supplies. Create and maintain inventory schedules by watching trends and customers demands. Must organize and schedule delivery from suppliers to assure production and inventory needs are met. Manage high levels of supplier and internal customer relationships. Seek out new suppliers to maintain cost savings and best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work with internal customers and suppliers to develop the best solutions for cost effective procurement methods.

  • Planning and/or purchase of critical materials and supplies to meet production schedule (MRP).

  • Cost reduction on materials purchased and tracking of savings.

  • Purchase of specific group of products.

  • Must be cross trained in other buyer positions.

  • Evaluate supplier performance.

  • Work with maintenance and engineering to effectively manage equipment spares, service, etc.

  • Work with inventory control to reduce inventory.

  • Work with Excel and pivot tables.

  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed.

  • Adheres to all safety policies.

  • Participates in the evaluation of the Purchasing Department through surveys or other specified means.

  • Works to reduce costs, minimize inventory, and provide excellent service to internal customers.

  • Responsible for establishing good vendor relationships.

  • Work with FIFO and shelf life products.

  • Acts in accordance with the TTM code of conduct when representing TTM.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:


  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Possesses personal integrity and deals fairly in business negotiations.

  • Has a clear understanding of products purchased including hazardous material.

  • Knowledge in cost analysis is preferred.

  • Must have the ability to manage the procurement of specific commodity groups.

  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Word & Excel)

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:


  • Associates or Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain or Business is preferred.

  • Three to five years of purchasing experience is required, preferably in the circuit board industry.

Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation.
