Summary


Come join our Integrated Behavioral Health program that spans across 7 hospital systems and 70 practices!

The Behavioral Health Integration Program Manager position is a 40 hours per week, professional manager role responsible for overseeing and shaping the implementation of behavioral health integration in primary care and specialty care settings.

This position is primarily for the Mid Coast Hospital Integrated clinicians working in the primary and specialty care practices. Additional program management responsibilities needed in other nearby regions as well. The actual geographic coverage would be determined with the applicant. Four hours of clinical time each week could be done in Palliative Care, a Mid Coast Hospital Practice located at 81 Medical Center Drive.

The program manager will provide oversight and clinical support to the behavioral health clinicians working in the practices. You will be working with a program management team as well as with the practice management team to focus on program development and sustainability.

The role will include:


  • Providing clinical supervision to LCSWs, LCPCs and psychologists integrated into the medical setting. Program development and operations oversight will be a core component of the work.

  • Developing working relationships with management at the local health systems and ambulatory behavioral health settings to support a cohesive and integrated system of care.

  • To keep your own clinical skills active, you will also have the opportunity to do some integrated behavioral health work in a practice.

The MaineHealth Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) program helps people get effective and efficient care for mental and behavioral health problems through their primary care providers. Our goal is to streamline the mental, behavioral and physical health care process for patients.



  • Primary and specialty care providers are supported in screening for, diagnosing, and managing patients and families with behavioral health issues.


  • Primary and specialty care providers and office staff collaborate with behavioral care managers and clinicians to implement individualized strategies for patients and their families.

  • Patients receive comprehensive physical and behavioral health care.


  • Patients receive services in the most appropriate setting, as determined by patient preference and clinical need. The integrated care team connects patients to specialty behavioral health services as needed.


  • Communication and coordination between medical and behavioral health care providers improves overall patient outcomes.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



  1. Education: Master's degree in Social Work, psychology or related field is required


  2. License/ Certifications: Maine State licensure to practice at the independent level of an LCSW, LCPC, or PhD. in mental health. Additional licensure in substance use treatment is preferred


  3. Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in community settings preferred, 3+years of clinical supervisory and management experience preferred.
