Materials Coordinator at New Balance Athletics, Inc. in Lawrence, Massachusetts

JOB MISSION

To plan, direct and coordinate cutting material functions such as factory allocations, receiving and shipping of material product to ensure good quality, timely and effective internal customer service while maintaining a safe working environment.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Oversee factory allocations, receiving and shipping of materials to other factories as needed.

  • Check the Aurora system when materials are needed by looking at the inventories of consolidation or the Maine factories to ensure materials arrive on time.

  • Ensure that Webbers have enough materials to do the day to day production, also check all their work before entering the numbers in the Aurora system and make sure they web just what is needed for the day.

  • Printing the Satra tickets for the daily production schedule and when materials are measured, verify them before entering the numbers in the system.

  • Complete Kanban checklist on a daily basis.

  • Learn how to use the SATRA grading system of leather.

  • Maintain a day to day inventory, which also includes performing inventory counts weekly and physical inventory every six months while maintaining a goal from 95 to 100% accuracy.

  • Ensure timely delivery of material to cutters and work with them on any quality issues.

  • Verify MPS weekly.

  • Set up synthetic and leather material.

  • Work closely with other material coordinator(s) on all issues and opportunities.

  • Maintain open communication with various support groups to prevent and/or resolve any quality issues and material shortages.

  • Fill-in and complete material issue sheets / update material issue sheets.

  • Complete daily material issue sheets.

  • Work closely with the IE Department and the Manufacturing Information Coordinators in recommending Satra changes to improve material efficiencies.

  • Communicate with supervisor regarding work standards, bad materials, material shortfalls, etc.

  • Work with the team leaders of each team when materials are damaged so they can get credit for defective materials.

  • Work on special projects as requested by senior plant management.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS


  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 plus years of experience in manufacturing process or a related area required. Prefer an associate's degree (Computer Science or Business) and 3-5 years of experience in the field.

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing process.

  • Strong demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft Office (WORD and EXCEL) and e-mail required.

  • Excellent communication skills
