Responsibilities

We currently have a great opportunity available for a Scientific Affairs Manager. Drives the activities of Sysmex Scientific Affairs to assist in the generation of scientific evidence required to gain and retain Sysmex businesses, including hematology, urinalysis and flow cytometry. Manages marketing evaluations to generate scientific and clinical evidence for Sysmex products. Regularly monitors communications and progression with sponsored study sites and reports findings to Scientific Affairs Assistant Director. Reviews literature on a regular basis for both Sysmex and competitive products and reports findings on a consistent basis to scientific team. Ensures most up-to-date scientific collateral for availability on company external and internal website. Responsible for preparation and timely release of scientific communications to the field and to external customers. This includes design of focused e-mail and social media campaigns.
Collaborates with Sales Leadership and Sales Training to develop and deliver key messaging for targeted accounts to enhance the understanding of Sysmex Products and Services among current Sysmex customers and potential competitive takeaways. Ensures collateral and content are consistent with the product's Intended use and meet the requirements established in Promotional Communications policies and procedures. Assists in internal and external training of the clinical and operational applicability of Sysmex technology. Attends all relevant scientific and product trade shows; shares relevant information within organization.

Drives Global Scientific activities and ensures collaboration between regional headquarters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manages marketing evaluations that generate scientific and clinical evidence for Sysmex products. Regularly monitors communications with study sites and documents progression of sponsored studies. Reports finding to Product and Scientific Affairs Management team.
a. Defines terms of service for the studies and works with Legal office to prepare and execute legal agreements.
b. Provides study logistical support for evaluations (instrument placements, reagent supply, enlisting service support etc.)
c. Assists in the evaluation of data collections and reviews statistical analysis from evaluation sites and/or customers who are requesting Sysmex scientific support.
d. Assists with the generation of scientific documentation and publications.
2. Manages the development of collateral projects in collaboration with Marketing Communications. Examples of collateral are customer profiles, customer testimonials, case studies, white papers, brochures, bibliography. Ensures most up- to- date scientific collateral, for availability on company external and internal website and assists in preparing timely communications to the customers and to the field.
3. Reviews literature on a regular basis for both Sysmex and competitive products. Reports findings on a consistent basis to scientific team.
4. Assists with training internal customers, sales, applications, and field trainers on scientific evidence related to all Sysmex product lines.
5. Attends recommended external scientific meetings to stay up to date with latest technologies and reports relevant findings to internal stakeholders.
6. Manages global scientific activities including internal website administration and organizing and presenting at regular collaborative meetings.
7. Other duties and projects as may be assigned.

Physical Risk: Regular exposure to risk that may require alertness, but with minimal precautions.

Physical Demands: Light physical effort. Routine handling of objects up to 20 pounds; prolonged (at least 50% of time) sitting, standing, keyboard or CRT work. May require periods of moderate discomfort due to noise, dust, lighting and/or other conditions.

Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required and 10 years of experience. Master's degree and 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Registered Medical Technologist or MLT, preferably with general experience, including Hematology, Urinalysis, and Flow Cytometry. Hemostasis experience a plus.

  • Diagnostic industry exposure preferred.

  • Understanding of regulatory affairs environment within the IVD space.

  • Medical Technology with extensive exposure to a wide range of relevant clinical laboratory medicine.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, other languages a plus.

  • High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must maintain updated knowledge of healthcare terrain.

  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally under stressful situations.

  • Ability to work in or lead cross-functional teams.

  • Highly visible position to both internal and external customers requiring excellent communication skills and extensive interpersonal contact.
