Job Description:

Job Summary:
Performs Mortgage investor reporting, remitting, and reconciling tasks required to ensure investor and regulatory compliance. Conducts account reconciliation procedures including daily balancing of the general ledger, and reconciling balance sheet accounts, bank accounts and subsidiary ledgers. Performs research, follow up and maintenance to complete reconciliations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Transmits and updates loan and pool data to Mortgage investors. Researches and resolves loan and pool reporting discrepancies. Initiates remittance of principal and interest payments collected in trust of investors according to investor guidelines utilizing appropriate reports and websites.

Reconciles pool to security, test of expected cash, and shortage surplus differences. Processes loan settlement and loan transfer transactions on loans sold. Responds to investor and mortgage servicing inquiries. Assists with loan modification reporting and repurchase reporting.

Performs daily balancing of the general ledger including research, follow up, and maintenance necessary to correct balances and complete reconciliations. Reviews and verifies consistency, completeness, and accuracy of general ledger account detail and adjusts as needed.

Reconciles general ledger accounts for certification. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and bank accounts. Posts transactions and balances and closes subsidiary ledgers. Performs follow up for exceptions.

Performs accounting duties in accordance with general ledger policies and procedures. Adheres to the accounting manual in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis. Adheres to Synovus Mortgage Policies and Procedures. Recommends to management methods to improve processes.

Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.

Minimum Experience: Three years of investor accounting, cashiering, or other similar experience in mortgage servicing OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products including intermediate skill using MS Excel.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Experience using FISERV LoanServ Servicing platform.
