Job Summary:

This position is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and participating in the development/enhancements of distributive system management platforms.

This is a challenging position within the Integration and Middleware Engineering team of the Infrastructure Services, reporting up to the Senior Manager of Middleware Engineering.Team supports over 200 Java based applications / implementations operating from 2 key data centers along with possible cloud / hosting facilities.

The candidate must be very motivated and willing to take on challenges, learn new concepts and be willing to multi-task to succeed. This is a level 2 role involving active participation in outsourced partners and several Middleware technologies. The Integration and middleware team is responsible for setting the engineering standards for Middleware technologies including specifying and maintaining specific hardened builds of each technology along with tracking software patching and maintaining technology lifecycles. This includes technology (software) configuration, operational and disaster recovery design and implementation, troubleshooting, performance optimization, creation of operational documents in coordination with the Development teams etc. The Integration and middleware team also has the ongoing responsibility to oversee the operations teams and to ensure that SLAs are followed, problems identified and resolved in a timely manner.

Responsible for the following as it relates to supporting the engineering and operations of the middleware technologies:

• Design, implement and follow strict engineering standards and guidelines to design, build, and operate the middleware technology solutions to support business applications.


• Keep abreast of the latest developments in the middleware technology space and recommend improvements to enhance the team's delivery capabilities


• Recommend adoption of new technologies and solutions to achieve operational excellence


• Develop and implement appropriate troubleshooting tools/technologies/strategies for proactively identifying problems including steps to quickly triage the problem leading to faster time to resolution


• Communicate effectively within and across multiple teams including vendors when required


• Track and document Middleware infrastructure per application/technology


• Represent middleware team in the change management review and be the first level approver for planned changes


• Partner with Level 1/0 team in creating operational documents

Required:

Education:

• Must have Bachelor degree in Engineering or IT-related fiel

Required Skills and Experience

• Work Experience: 7-10 years of related IT work experience


• Minimum five years of experience in operationally supporting Middleware technologies - Application server (IBM WAS), Messaging (IBM MQ, Rabbit MQ)


• Working experience with IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration appliances is a plus


• Certification in relevant Middleware technologies is a plus


• Good knowledge of middleware technologies and operational process


• Excellent communication skills


• Experience with Linux/UNIX & Windows


• Experience working in a virtualized and cloud environment


• Prior experience in end to end Middleware/systems automation and orchestration using open source tools is a big plus.


• Strong Unix Shell scripting / Jython / powershell & Ansible standard scripting tools


• Experience in building and rolling out high availability and disaster recovery middleware environments


• Experience in maintaining configuration and knowledge management database


• Ability to learn quickly and draw meaningful conclusions from independent research


• Willingness to participate in on call rotation


• Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical, along with the ability to lead team or individual presentations

Implementation requirements may result in extended hours
