Responsibilities





  • Oversee the organization's logistics and routing network to ensure processes and procedures are in place and being followed to meet internal and customer needs.

  • Schedule and assign work to employees, providing necessary materials, equipment, and documents.

  • Monitor all scheduled daily deliveries and ensure customer time commitments are met.

  • Monitor and review routing configurations for cost efficiency. Level the dispatch. Create Shipping Manifests.

  • Constant communication with drivers, warehouse staff, salespersons, and customers.

  • Identify opportunities reviewing financial reports, profitability, and coordinate with key stakeholders. (P&L)

  • Augment and manage backhaul program with growth opportunities.

  • Develop Strategic logistic plans and procedures to meet current needs and future growth.

  • Monitor and manage logistics overtime budget.

  • Negotiate and select carriers for transportation fleet.

  • Work with lease providers for various reports, i.e., mileage and VCR reports

  • Investigate, respond to, and resolve complaints to provide the final mile experience for the customer.

  • Maintain, track, and prepare documentation for key metrics, analyze gaps, and create new processes and procedures as needed. Evaluate and assess start times and on dock efficiencies.

  • Develop and implement revised branch process and strategy on returns, branch transfer logistics / compliance and lost shipment support.

  • Responsible to hire, train and develop direct reports.

  • Inspire, lead, and develop transportation associates.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews and utilize corrective counseling as needed.

  • Stay updated and ensure compliance with all DOT Regulations.

  • Responsible for on road and in-house safety for the drivers to reduce injuries and accidents.

  • Responsible for conducting annual certification of all drivers on delivery methods and give binders to each driver.

  • Safety methods training. Space and visibility, Daily safety briefings, stationary object training and post-accident/injury evaluations.

  • Perform Truck Maintenance Inspections

  • Create and maintain Fleet of vehicles required to provide service.

  • Manage the loading of trucks and truck routes.

  • Provide Excellent Customer Service.

  • Perform annual performance reviews and corrective actions as required.



  • Perform other related duties as required.


















Qualifications





  • Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis on operations/logistics management and/or equivalent knowledge through job related experience and training.

  • 5 years prior experience managing logistics networks and transportation staff, Union, and Non-Union Drivers

  • Solid knowledge of contractual bargaining agreement and DOT Regulations is required.

  • Ability to organize and multi-task.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications

  • Strong knowledge of Fleet Maintenance, GPS Tracking, and other logistics technology
