Job Summary: The Cyber Incident Response Commander is responsible for leading cyber incidents that require coordination across the Equinix and its various technology domains. This person also leads a team that conducts preparation ahead of cyber incidents in the form of incident runbook development and curation, including integration of runbooks with external teams, and incident tabletop exercise development, coordination, facilitation, and analysis. This person works closely with Information Security–internal resources and external resources to ensure comprehensive and superior preparation for a wide variety of potential cyber incidents across multiple complex domains, including corporate IT networks, ICS networks, cloud environments, and Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) facilities.

This position is within the Equinix Information Security Global CERT and reports directly to the Global CERT Leader. This position requires superior interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, including the ability to take command of cyber incident response activities in times of potential crises and drive incidents to timely and effective remediation.

Responsibilities

• Serving as the primary coordinator for cyber-related incidents within multiple technical domains at Equinix.




• Managing a team responsible for supporting incident management, runbook documentation, and cyber tabletop exercise coordination.




• Evaluating incoming cyber incidents at various levels of severity to make assignments to appropriate incident response resources.




• Producing and maintaining documentation pertaining to team processes and procedures.




• Maintaining the Information Security Incident Response Plan and ensuring its alignment to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.




• Participation in the development and curation of runbooks corresponding to potential cybersecurity incidents, including integration of runbooks with external stakeholders in incident response.




• Conducting post-mortem review of incidents to support continuous improvement of the Incident Response Plan and related cyber incident runbooks.




• Closely coordinating and supporting other Equinix information security teams, such as the Security Operations Centers, Threat and Vulnerability Management, and Threat Intelligence teams.




• Working under tight deadlines to handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cyber incident response within large, complex, and multinational organizations.




• 5+ years in directly managing team members, including performance management and professional development.




• Experience in cyber incident runbook development and curation and the ability to take lessons learned from incident response activities to improve documentation.




• Experience in development and facilitation of cyber-themed tabletop exercises that test runbooks and integrations with response capabilities outside of Information Security.




• Strong knowledge of cyber security threat actors, particularly their tactics, techniques, procedures, tradecraft, and noteworthy attacks.




• Exceptional communications skills (oral and written) with a history of successfully engaging with multiple levels of leadership.




• Understanding of technology systems such as networks, applications, servers, cloud, authentication, and emerging technologies.




• Experience working with information security teams such as fusion centers, security operations centers, vulnerability assessment, vulnerability threat management, security incident management, cyber “hunt,” and big data analysis.




• Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work independently with little oversight.




• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.




• Degrees and/or Certifications in computer forensics, information security, and similar preferred.

In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is $113K- $153K per year with 20% bonus target.
