The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, monitor, and manage the production and inventory plans for the Flavors/Spice business. This role strives to find the optimal balance between inventory, customer service, and production/distribution cost goals in sku-intensive environment. This role also plays a key role in the startup of new products and changes to existing products.
Responsibilities:
Inventory:
Minimizes Working Capital by developing production and finished goods inventory plans each period as part of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle.
Conducts cross functional S&OP meetings each period.
Oversees the order and delivery process of packaging materials to support production plans.
Facilitates the disposition of quality defects in packaging materials.
Cost Control:
Minimizes the cost of excess and obsolete inventory by regular system reviews, identifies at risk items, and product lifecycle management.
Identifies slow moving products that should be discontinued.
Supports financial forecasting & budgeting processes with production plans that correspond to sales forecasts.
Minimizes manufacturing costs by balancing demand by production line and minimizing required overtime.
Customer Service:
Manages customer service reporting for supply chain team and ensures actions are in place for deficient areas.
Optimizes the distribution of finished goods from manufacturing facilities to ensure on-time delivery to designated destinations and/or customers.
Actively participates in the plant management team including staff meetings, reviews, CI teams, etc.
New Products:
Supports new product introductions including new sku’s and Prepakcs/Displays.
Actively participates in weekly project meetings, provides capacity constraints, determines appropriate timelines, ensure item setup is completed properly, and oversees purchasing of new components.
Responds to frequent what-if planning scenarios for new products or new customers.
System Maintenance:
Ensures the accuracy of physical inventory of packaging materials, ingredients, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
Participates in internal and external inventory audits
Maintains subject matter expert knowledge for JDE data in the manufacturing area.
Ensures JDE is set up with proper parameters including safety stock, manufacturing cycle time, lead time, etc.
Identify and communicate food safety issues; lead and influence food safety initiatives.
Experience, Skills, Education:
Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred
Minimum 5-7 years of supply chain management experience required
APICS certification a plus
People management experience required
Attention to detail and ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions by defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication mediums, settings, and styles
Ability to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups
Skilled at developing and implementing processes to drive efficiency and business results
Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Access). JD Edwards experience preferred
