Job Description:

Services are delivered throughout the asset life cycle, from concept to construction to long-term operations, maintenance and rehabilitation.

TranSystems is looking for a junior level Planner in which the individual assists more experienced planners and environmental specialists in meeting clients’ needs in the areas of transportation/transit planning, environmental planning, and associated specialties.

Basic Responsibilities:

    • Independently performs most assignments with instructions from Project Manager or Senior Planners as to the general results expected.
    
    
    • Conducts research and documentation
    
    
    • Gathers and analyzes data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
    
    
    • Works as part of the team prepare recommendations and alternatives.
    
    
    • Compiles and analyze data on site conditions, compliance reviews and facilitation and implementation of programs and services required by federal, state and local legislation.
    
    
    • Attends and participates in meetings.
    
    
    • Occasionally will participate in on site/field reviews and documentation of existing site conditions.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in environmental compliance


• Field experience relating to environmental compliance for construction projects in California


• Preparation of environmental planning documentation under NEPA/CEQA, preparation of permit documents associated with the implementation of projects, and/or monitoring the implementation of environmental mitigation measures for a project.  


• Past experience with compliance tracking software systems


• BS or BA in Geography, Planning, Environmental Science or related field required


• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint


• Valid Driver’s License to undertake field work as required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Working knowledge of GIS, Microstation (or similar), and/or Microsoft Project is not required, but considered a plus.


• Work on major public linear projects, especially rail projects, is not required, but considered a plus.


• Have diverse skill set in NEPA/CEQA environmental document review and subject matter expertise in biology, water resources, or cultural resources.


• Familiarity with 106 process
