Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

Live Hang Job Summary:

Team members in the live hang department are primarily responsible for hanging live chickens while adhering to Company, Safety, and Animal Welfare policies and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Hang chickens on shackles while abiding by animal welfare policies and procedures 


• Rapid, repetitive grasping and hanging of live birds' feet into overhead shackles


• Follow all animal welfare standards while handling live poultry in a safe and respectful manner

Job Requirements:

• No prior live hang experience necessary


• 18 years of age or older


• Eligible to work in the United States

Physical & Environmental Factors:

• Manual dexterity of hands and wrists


• Repetitively lift 5-7 lb birds 


• Able to withstand working with live birds


• Repetitive hand motions, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs


• Stand and walk on concrete majority of shift


• Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, bend and lift various weights as needed


• Occasionally climb ladders, steep inclines, and enter confined spaces


• Exposure to cold, humid environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 100+ degrees, and up to 100% humidity


• Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels


• Exposure to strong odors, including ammonia


• Exposure to slippery and wet conditions
