Do you want to drive change? Garmin's Cary, NC office is seeking a DevOps Team Leader to lead our Jenkinsautomation server infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll help improve our devops processes and delivery systems through team management and coordination with other team leaders across Garmin. We are seeking a blend of technologist and leader, who has working knowledge of Jenkins and Linux, and enjoys team leadership!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead a team of Software Engineers with diverse capability levels through support and improvement activities.
Oversee training and mentoring of new associates.
Create development plans as directed by engineering management.
Manage and prioritize task backlogs
Monitor progress of the software teams in meeting product requirements and schedule compliance.
Other essential functions include:
Drives Process improvement and authors new procedures as needed
Integrate tools and solutions with each other for comprehensiveness and ease of use by software development teams.
Work with other Garmin teams owning the entire ecosystem to ensure viability and high-availability of our solutions.
Support proper usage of solutions via documentation, training, and leadership.
Lead constructive discussions with users and owners to drive the evolution and usage of our solution stack
Gather data to drive decisions
Provide leadership for and listen to Garmin’s software development community in cooperation with team leadership and other functional teams.
Demonstrates broad understanding of Garmin’s business model, including operations, production, sales and marketing
Exemplifies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics or a technical field (such as CIS or IT) AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
2+ years experience leading a Jenkins automation server infrastructure team
5+ years in a technical leadership position with demonstrated ability to develop sound engineering practices and communication skills within the team.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Comfortable working with both Linux and Windows
Experience with a Configuration Management tool, e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Gerrit, and SQL.
