We are seeking a Senior Medical Director, Primary Care to:


  • Ensure the highest levels of quality care throughout ambulatory care

  • Provide clinical oversight to more than 300 providers caring for over 290,000 medically homed patients in our 36 primary care clinics.  

  • Integrate clinical services and medical practice across the UW Health primary care system of care.

Education:

Minimum – Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).

Preferred – Master of Medical Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent.

Work Experience:

Minimum –


  • Five years of progressively responsible experience as a practicing physician.

  • Prior experience leading quality improvement in a clinical setting.

Preferred –


  • Work experience in a multi-hospital system or integrated delivery system.

  • Broad based knowledge of the full scope of operations in an accredited academic medical center or primary teaching hospital of comparable size and scope to UW Health.

  • Additional experience in a leadership role in inpatient/operative care or a physician practice.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum –


  • Board certification from an appropriate medical board recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

  • Current license or the qualifications to obtain a license to practice medicine as granted by the State of Wisconsin.

Medical Specialty Required for this role (if applicable):

Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics preferred.

  • Proven success in developing a large high performing staff, establishing performance standards, and transitioning staff through organizational change, with an emphasis on the ability to recruit and manage a culturally diverse workforce.

  • A high degree of professionalism and competency dealing with a variety of individuals including physicians, senior executives, hospital administration, and external constituents.

  • Experience in preparing operating and capital budgets.

  • An ability to organize and present data in a concise and easily understood manner, often to professionals, physicians and board members.

  • Ability to be recognized as a positive change agent.

  • Proven success as a dynamic and empowering leader who possesses a positive attitude to instill a vision for excellence with innovation and creativity.

  • Conflict management and resolution skills.

  • Skilled developer of relationships and partnerships.
