Job Summary: Manages the creation and implementation of content for IT communication programs.

The Equinix Global IT organization works on the solution delivery and operational support of enterprise applications, information security, analytics, data science, end-user technology and infrastructure support for Equinix’s thousands of global employees. IT owns the digital transformation agenda for the company, focusing on evolving our digital capabilities across all enterprise business services in support of our strategy.  

We’re looking for a communications manager to help build and lead strategic IT communications programs and messaging that deliver impact for our internal and external stakeholders.  

 

The IT communications manager will report into the Director, IT Communications and partner with various IT project managers and business stakeholders within the company to drive the IT communications agenda forward. 

Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute communications strategies, plans and content for and on behalf of the Global IT team to increase employee awareness and promote productivity and collaboration 


  • Manage the team and overall day-to-day operations for all IT communications, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met 


  • Support a continued cadence of updates to keep the IT organization both advised of internal happenings and engaged with the rest of the organization 


  • Drive internal communications needs for adoption of new technology for the entire company 


  • Oversee the distribution of IT communications across various formal and informal channels  


  • Leverage data insights available from various tools to measure and drive campaign success 


  • Partner with IT project and program managers to build a streamlined communication plan  


Qualifications


  • Over five years of experience in a communications background in the enterprise technology industry (familiarity with IT preferred) 


  • Should be able to “translate” technical language, topics, and projects into layperson’s language that non-technical business stakeholders will understand and value 


  • Bachelor's degree required 


  • Self-starter with the ability to formulate a clear point of view and exercise high judgement 


  • Proven background creating communications that drive measurable and effective outcomes 


  • Leadership skills that foster collaboration and partnership with other internal executive communication teams 


  • A proven people-manager with strong leadership skills who understands and values not just the “what” required from team members but the importance of the cultural “how”


  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field required


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels of stakeholders with a roll-up your sleeves mindset 


  • Ability to convey information in a relevant format to a wide variety of audiences 


  • Understanding of executive, management and IT issues 


  • Ability to work in an agile and rapidly changing environment, while maintaining strong focus on execution and results 


  • Experience writing and managing communications across a variety of channels – including newsletters, email flyers, Yammer, videos, events, presentations, intranet, infographics, etc  


  • Process oriented and team-player
