Job Summary: Reporting to the Treasurer for Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), the Treasury Manager will take a lead role in managing the debt and financing activities for the System. As a key member of the Central Treasury Office, the Manager will be responsible for overseeing the existing debt portfolio and lines of credits, including bonds and/or bank financing arrangements, as well as, for structuring new debt issuances including economics analysis, document preparation, ongoing disclosure and market stakeholder outreach.

Essential Responsibilities:


  1. Support capital markets activities such as analyzing and recommending capital and debt structure, securing short-term and long-term financing and negotiating credit agreements.

  2. Act as primary contact for investment banks and bond councils.

  3. Recommend and execute capital-raising alternatives including public and private debt issues.

  4. Debt portfolio analysis, including management of amortization schedules and overseeing repayments across the obligated group.

  5. Forecasting projected debt uses, and evaluating debt capacity for BILH.

  6. Evaluate, model and monitor debt covenants, ensuring compliance with master trust indentures and senior facility agreements.

  7. Relationship with ratings agencies, analysis and maintenance of credit ratings model.

  8. Preparation of roadshow analysis and presentations.

  9. Daily monitoring of debt market and interest rates, and preparation of monthly and quarterly update reports for senior management and the finance committee.

  10. Development, maintenance and update of BILH's debt policy, guidelines and procedures.

  11. Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: None Indirect Reports: None



Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  2. More than 10 years related work experience required in corporate Treasury or Finance and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required

  3. Understanding of Rating Agencies dynamics, metrics and models for Credit Ratings on the debt market. Previous experience with debt issuance, both in a taxable and tax-exempt structures, private placement transactions, and bank credit facilities.

  4. Knowledge of tax-exempt and taxable bonds.

  5. Strong debt operations modeling skills and strong process and analytical skills with proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  6. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. CTP / CFA preferred

  2. Proficiency with computer platforms and applications.

  7. Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.


  8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
