Springer Nature is an ambitious and dynamic organization that is home to some of the best-known names in research, educational and professional publishing and we have an exciting 6+ month assignment for an experienced Temporary Human Resources Manager. The successful candidate will serve as a local HR business partner for the US Journals business while our current HR Manager is on leave and will join and partner with a team of talented HR professionals. Some of the areas of focus will include: employee relations, performance management, coordination and support of variable compensation program and annual salary increase process, change management, HR legal compliance, Journals related projects and other project areas to be identified as needed.

 

Responsibilities


  • Partner with the Journals client group (approximately 215 employees) on HR related needs.

  • Coach managers on effective employee relations resolution and performance management techniques to mitigate company risk while supporting business objectives

  • Effective coordination of annual HR processes - i.e., annual salary increase process, annual performance management process and target-setting and evaluation for variable compensation plans, etc.

  • Conduct departure meetings

  • Ad hoc HR-related queries

  • Any other duties that can reasonably be expected of you

 

Experience, skills, and qualifications

Essential:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of HR generalist experience

  • Strategic and innovative thinker; ability to gain the confidence of managers and partner with them to achieve business objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting demands and work with high autonomy as well as meet tight deadlines

  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Adheres to strict confidentiality requirements and protection of sensitive HR data

Desirable:


  • Experience within a global organization and medical communications agency or publishing experience preferred

  • Prior experience with variable compensation/bonus programs a plus

  • Experience within the STM industry is helpful
