Associate Security Operations Center Analyst
U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
Role Summary:
Joining the recently bootstrapped Security Operations Center (SOC) you will be a pivotal member that will drive the maturity of the program and help ensure the security of our client's sensitive medical information. You will be not only be responding to alerts but will be creating new detection techniques, creating new use cases and plays, tuning current detection techniques and be a pivotal player in helping the SOC embrace new technologies and platforms.
The WPS SOC is open to remote positions with occasional travel to WPS headquarters.
In this role you will:
Monitoring, Response, and Leadership
- Respond to security alerts as a first-tier analyst; identify and escalate complex alerts to second-tier analysts.
- Monitor and respond to suspicious email submissions to the Abuse mailbox.
- Assist in research and reporting of threat intelligence on a daily basis.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of departmental Investigation & Response Plays.
- Engage in learning and skill enhancement opportunities.
- Bring forward new detection techniques, methods, and ideas to the SOC team.
- Participate in on call rotation with other SOC analysts.
- Participate as a Cybersecurity Incident Response Team member (CIRT) during Security Incidents.
- Collaborate with our IS business partners in enhancements or investigations.
- Pro-actively immunize WPS from emerging threats.
- Assist in the identification and collection of audit evidence and documentation.
- Provide guidance and special expertise to other staff.
- Participate in the planning and managing ad-hoc projects and assignments as requested.
- Collaborate in gap assessments and help identify visibility or functionality gaps, help to implement process improvements.
- Represent Enterprise Security and WPS by embracing professional communication standards with internal and external partners.
- Help drive the SOCs maturity through process development.

- Have an understanding of Windows, Linux, and UNIX OS.
- Experience with scripting such as PowerShell or Python, Perl, Bash.

You need to have:
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent post high school and/or related work experience and knowledge.
We also prefer:
- 1 year of related experience in the information security field.
- Actively seeking industry certifications, such as Sec+ or GIAC cybersecurity-related certifications.
- Effective communication (verbal and written).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, able to identify actionable alerts from noise.
- Familiar with a variety of security concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Experience with WPS systems.
