Summary Description:

The Logistics Department supports Operations, through accurate and timely processing of shipping & receiving duties including confirming that receiving department documentation, components, and inventory are accurate to achieve accurate and on-time delivery to the customer.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Monitor items leaving and entering the OPW facility and ensure all related documents, such as shipping documents, invoices, and purchase orders, are in order.

  • Review daily scheduled shipments and cross-check to ensure accuracy.

  • Ensure items entering the facility are properly assessed and stored.

  • Ensure products are properly packed and organized for safe shipment.

  • Prepare and print shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs.

  • Assemble and fill boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped.

  • Affix proper postage to each package in preparation for shipping.

  • Track inventory and report any shortages to supervisor.

  • Process orders based on preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).

  • Contact carrier and schedule shipping for each package.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and update supplies as needed.

  • Ship and receive items while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

  • Follow standard documented policies and procedures, including use of pallet jacks and/or forklift.

  • Accurate and efficient presentation of stock to appropriate warehouse/shop floor locations.

  • Coordinate with buyers and quality teams as needed.

  • Work with Logistics Supervisor and peers to cascade communications, to help prioritize / coordinate resources, to assist staging of work cells.

  • Communicate with operations teams to report status and issues that impact daily production and shipment goals.

  • Provide support in all logistical areas as needed.

  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are enforced and monitored in dock area.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years shipping & receiving experience.

  • Extensive experience as a certified forklift operator.

  • Must have the ability to accurately perform inventory counts and verify accuracy of inbound and outbound shipments

  • Ability to enter transaction in Oracle with high accuracy and speed, adhering to company processes.

  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required

  • Ability to work all scheduled and adjusted times, and or work overtime to accommodate production.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in English comprehension and expression both verbal and written.

  • Ability to adjust to changing work environments, variable noise levels and varying temperatures.

  • Ability to tolerate prolonged standing and walking distances; physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive bending, reaching, and stooping motions; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Excellent manual dexterity with full-finger and hand movement to perform repetitive motions and task.

  • Willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, non-conductive jacket.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position is based in the Knappco facility in Hamilton, OH.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Five or more years of related experience and/or training with company product, production processes and systems strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Lean systems and tools.

  • Demonstrated communication skills and positive communication style

  • Demonstrated ability to receive and distribute detailed written and oral instructions

  • Demonstrated ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day, including the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments

  • Demonstrated understanding of Oracle and inventory movements.

  • High level of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with customers and coworkers.

  • Self-directed, positive and ethical role model able to work with minimal supervision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Primarily shop floor but occasionally outdoors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
