Sr. Tax Accountant at Herbalife in Torrance, California

Job Description:

The role:

This position will be an integral part of the global tax provision and compliance team within the Herbalife tax department. This role will support the monthly, quarterly and annual tax accounting processes for foreign subsidiaries. This individual will play a critical role in the quarterly and annual worldwide tax provision consolidation and reporting process. In addition to the role within the tax accounting function, this individual will provide assistance in the preparation of the Company’s US federal and state income tax compliance requirements. Within both the tax provision and tax compliance roles, this individual will work on special projects with senior members of the tax department to build efficiencies within the Company’s tax processes and to identify and implement strategies to realize tax savings.

How you would contribute:

• Tax accounting support for US and foreign subsidiaries


• Review monthly US GAAP tax journal entries


• Prepare and Review quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision calculations


• Review annual local tax filing


• Prepare and Review annual tax provision to return analysis and related tax balance sheet true ups


• Provide one-on-one training to foreign finance managers on US GAAP tax accounting


• Assist tax accounting manager in preparing and providing group trainings to global finance teams


• Support the global tax provision consolidation process


• Prepare support documentation for internal control purposes for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance


• Assist with the documentation surrounding income tax contingencies under ASC 740 and non-income tax contingencies under ASC 450


• Support US federal and state tax compliance calculations and filings

Skills and background required to be successful:

Skills:

• Strong background in US tax law, including both international and domestic concepts


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Strong analytical skills and project management skills


• Detail oriented with strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills


• Team player who can work effectively across distances with global tax and finance team members


• Demonstrated ability to motivate self to meet or exceed expectations and deadlines


• Strong basic accounting (debit-credit and journal entry) skills


• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and tax-research software


• Experience with OneSource suite of tax provision and tax compliance software

Experience:

• 4+ years of diverse tax accounting experience


• Expert level knowledge in all MS Office applications, particularly in Excel, including the ability to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas


• Solid proficiencies utilizing large ERP and large accounting software (i.e., Oracle, SAP, etc).

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or related finance field
