General Description:

The Resource Specialist works with clients and families to assist in overcoming barriers to consistent participation in services. Contact with clients may be via phone, mail, home/community visits, individual or family appointments, or curriculum-based groups. The Resource Specialist is responsible for transferring clients to the appropriate level of clinical treatment within Options and providing referrals to outside resources, as needed. Ability to travel to, and to provide services in, families homes and communities is required*

Schedule:

This position is anticipated to be full-time (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM. However, some weeks may have fewer scheduled hours. The actual hours worked may vary daily depending on the needs of the referring agency or individual client families. Some overtime may be required and approved by your supervisor in response to client needs, referrals, or other factors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Meet criteria as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA). Ability to work independently, in teams, and with a variety of social service systems and resources. Relate effectively with children, adolescents, parents, staff and the community. Must be computer proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and record keeping software. Good written and verbal communication skills. Must have respectful, open, unbiased, accepting attitude toward clients and their families. Maintain client confidentiality. Pass a criminal background check and/or fingerprinting. Must have a valid Oregon drivers license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance*

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, family studies, or related field preferred. Experience in the assessment and treatment of children/adolescents and/or adults, and their families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct Service 50%


  • Assess clients (adult, child, or family) needs and assess willingness to participate in future services

  • Re-engage and empower clients and families to overcome challenges that impact participation in services

  • Maintain a flexible schedule in order to appropriately deliver services to meet client needs

  • Maintain professional standards and conduct while interacting with clients and staff

Documentation 50%


  • Maintain case records and complete all forms within Agency guidelines and deadlines

  • Complete and submit progress notes within Agency guidelines and deadlines

  • Maintain accurate and current client records, including timely Individualized Service Plans, authorization requests, and progress notes within the electronic client record (ECR), and sign documents to meet federal and state regulatory standards

  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:


  • May be required to work afternoon, evening, and/or weekend hours

  • Will travel locally and transport clients with own vehicle. Must be insured with liability insurance*

  • Extended periods of time sitting at work station updating client records, phone work, and client sessions

  • Ability to stand, work, and drive throughout the day

  • Mobility and dexterity sufficient to assist clients and handle required job-related functions and move about the facility

  • Ability to cope with clients who may use challenging or offensive language with potential for escalation to physical aggression

*Positions that require driving clients must maintain vehicle insurance as required by law, with a minimum of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 personal auto liability coverage (proof of insurance will be required).
