Water Jet Flash Cutter Operator at Sealing Devices Inc - REG in Buffalo, New York

ABOUT THIS ROLE:



Primary duties are to draw and fabricate large / complex gaskets that are not suitable for die cutting. This is done using a either a Water Jet, computer-controlled Flash Cutter or manually cut and fabricate parts when necessary. Backup support in other presses in accordance with Sealing Device's work instructions will also be required as skills are developed.



STATEMENT OF WORK:



• Operate Fabrication Shop and Machine Shop machinery / equipment.

• Review router / job specifications for correct material, tooling, press selection and job due date.

• Create or modify CAD drawings of parts as needed.

• Perform first piece cut and check for print compliance as required.

• Run the job to produce the correct quantity of product.

• Monitor quality during cutting and notify supervisor of any quality or mechanical problems.

• Record accurate times on the router for each job performed.

• Bundle and tag all usable centers with traceability information as required in the work instruction.

• Follow work instructions for each area of the Fabrication department.

• Assist in Estimating part costs and suggest production methods as requested.

• Follow all safety instructions.

• Maintain good housekeeping as required.

• Report quality problems to applicable supervisor.

• Responsible to follow departmental procedures and work instructions as written and recommend improvements as necessary.

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Sealing Devices Quality System.




WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:



Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED: required.

• Associate degree (two-year college or technical school): preferred - Field of Study: Industrial Technology or related.

• Vocational Degree in a Related Field: preferred

• 6+ plus months of experience in computer drafting or related computer use position: preferred.

• 6+ months of experience in press operation / hand fabricating: preferred.

• Strong ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule.

• Ability to run an XY cutter effectively and efficiently, be able to read and interpret drawings using AutoCAD and/or blueprints.

• Must possess strong computer skills and must have computer knowledge, be able to read and comprehend data, and possess typing skills. Oracle, Lotus Notes, Word, and Excel: preferred.

• Must be proficient using AutoCAD and other computer-aided design software such as Solidworks: required.

Through regular personal interaction with your manager and Sealing Devices Performance Management model.



WORK ENVIRONMENT



Commitment of 40 hours per work. The job operates in a factory setting with manufacturing/factory attire. Safety equipment used. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
