Ever wonder how that dialysis catheter was placed, or how that GI bleed was fixed without surgery? How about that stroke patient that was paralyzed and couldn't speak but is now walking and talking??? Interventional Radiology (IR), that's how!! This is a medical sub-specialty of radiology utilizing minimally-invasive image-guided (Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, MRI) procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system.
IR is changing the way we take care of patients and having better outcomes for everyone involved because the care is less invasive, less painful, decreases recovery time, more cost effective and the field is reinventing itself every day to provide even better care.
Interventional Radiology Nursing has several different roles that the clinician can be a part of and is an advanced nursing skill that requires critical thinking, initiative, resourcefulness and collaborative skills. The IR team has an incredible group of seasoned RNs and technologists that will train and teach you all you need to know about IR and the various procedures we perform.
